The 18-year-old Hubble Space Telescope hasn't sent any pictures for the past three weeks, and fixing the system in outer space hasn't exactly gone as smoothly as NASA officials hoped. Restoration of the telescope's operations fot hampered by a couple of unexplained problems -- or "anomalies," in NASA-speak -- earlier this week.

To work around an inital failure that happened on September 27, the engineers began reconfiguring "six components of the Hubble Data Management System and five components in the Science Instrument Command and Data Handling (SIC &DH) system to use their redundant (or B) sides," says a Hubble status report.

There's probably no big surprise associated with the findings of this recent study. However, a few findings worthy of particular note are that the negative affects linger on well after an adolescent has stopped using marijuana, and that adolescent girls are more at risk than boys for suffering the affects.

Krista Lisdahl Medina, a University of Cincinnati assistant professor of psychology and a lead researcher of the study, says that's evident even after a month of stopping marijuana use. She says that while recent findings suggest partial recovery of verbal memory functioning within the first three weeks of adolescent abstinence from marijuana, complex attention skills continue to be affected.

The larger PFC volumes were associated with poorer executive functions of the brain in these teens, such as planning, decision-making or staying focused on a task.

TOKYO (AFP) - Japan's Sharp Corp. on Wednesday launched what it billed as the world's first liquid crystal display television with a built-in next-generation Blu-ray DVD recorder.

The latest in Sharp's Aquos line of televisions will hit the market in late November with prices between 170,000 and 500,000 yen (1,680 and 4,950 dollars).

使用网络浏览器
自从推出google chrome以来，最近一直在试用，我发现速度极快，界面非常简洁，可视范围比其它的浏览器都大得多了。经过与firefox，opera 及maxthon进行比较，我觉得在速度上还是chrome比较快，opera和firefox也不错，可惜后两者总有些不足，例如在opera中使用google reader速度超慢，而firefox设置过于复杂，内存占用太高（虽然chrome也很占用内存，但是它是独立进程的，控制得很好，还有任务管理器进行管理），而且要装各种各样的扩展才能发挥作用（扩展装多了启动又慢，每装一个扩展都要重启一次），太麻烦了。像我怎样的懒人是最不适合的了。另外opera和firefox有时在使用过程中会突然崩溃，需要重启。不过opera的魔棒密码功能比其他浏览器都要好，另外还具有一个叫opera link的功能，能够同步书签及其他内容，非常好。而在chrome上就不会发生了。我很少用maxthon，除了用于某些嵌入了wmp播放器或只能在ie内核浏览器中使用的页面之外，一般不会用。虽然maxthon非常强大。chrome对于某些填表的网页无法记住密码，这一点比不上opera，有时chrome载入页面的时间居然比opera还要长，而且还会因为flash的缘故而死掉。所以并没有十全十美的东西存在，只有不断做得更好。
